President Jokowi: PPKM Level 4 Officially Extended for a Week

Today, August 2, 2021, President Jokowi officially announced the extension of the PPKM Level 4 period until August 9, 2021. The announcement of this policy was broadcast by the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel on Monday, August 2, 2021. Jokowi stated that "The government has decided to continue PPKM Level 4 from April 2, 2021. 3 August to 9 August 2021 in several cities and districts. Jokowi also stated that the regulation on activity and community mobility would be adjusted to the conditions and situations of each region.
Jokowi said that “later the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan together with the relevant ministers will provide further explanations on the technical rules of the extension of this Level 4 PPKM.
The former Jakarta governor said that PPKM Level 4, which was held from 26 to 2 August, had brought several improvements on a national scale when compared to the previous ones. Improvements in terms of daily recovered cases, active cases to the percentage of bed use in the hospital.
President Jokowi also added that to overcome the burden on citizens arising from the consequences of this restriction, the government continues to accelerate the distribution of social assistance for the entire community. Social assistance in this case is meant by the Family Hope Program (PKH), Cash Social Assistance (BST), village BLT and also assistance intended for micro and small businesses, street vendors and stalls.
