PPKM Officially Extended by President Jokowi until August 2, 2021

 

On Sunday 25 July 2021, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia officially extended the implementation of the Level four PPKM (Restriction of Community Activities Regulations) which originally ended until Sunday 25 July 2021. This decision was issued from 26 July to 2 August 2021. This policy was announced by the Presi
dent Jokowi on Sunday night.

In his speech he stated that "taking into account the health aspect, the economic aspect, as well as the social dynamics aspect, I have decided to continue the implementation of PPKM Level 4 from 26 July to 2 August 2021," broadcast through the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel.

In the implementation of PPKM Level 4, there are restrictions on various sectors, such as offices, education, shopping centers, restaurants or places to eat, tourism, transportation, social and cultural arts. President Jokowi also believes that Emergency PPKM and Level 4 PPKM have succeeded in improving the conditions of this pandemic in Indonesia. "We know that currently there has been an improvement trend in controlling the Covid-19 pandemic," said President Jokowi. "The rate of addition of cases, the BOR (bed occupancy rate), and the positivity rate are starting to show a downward trend as happened in several provinces in Java," said President Jokowi. Even so, President Jokowi still urges the public to continue to be vigilant against the transmission of the Covid-19 virus, especially the Delta variant.

PPKM Level 4 has been in effect for five days, from 21 to 25 July 2021. This decision was enforced on the island of Java and also on the island of Bali, where level 3 and 4 assessment values ​​were recorded.

Level 4 means that each province has recorded more than 150/100,000 population of Covid-19 cases every week. Patient care in hospitals is more than 30/100,000 population per week and death cases are more than 5/100,000 population per week.

As for Level 3, the area where cases are recorded every week reaches 50-150/100,000 population each week. Then patients in the hospital reach 10-30/100,000 population per week and cases of death between 2-5/100,000 population every week.

PPKM Level 4 is actually an extension of the Emergency PPKM which was implemented from 3-20 July.
